Canada’s "Best Online Indie Band Finalists" are creating quite a buzz in and around the Toronto area. It’s with no wonder, a lot of great things are happening for Sifter and people are beginning to take notice.
This exciting new band, with a diverse range of influences, is quite entertaining on stage. Their sound is a fusion of 70's / 80's rock , 90's grunge and today’s alternative influences. Combine some clever and unique digital sampling and you get a good idea of what Sifter is all about.
Their talent caught the eye of Toronto producer Rob Sanzo, best known for his work with Sum41 and Treble Charger. Rob was delighted when he got the chance to produce the bands first album.
The vision of Sifter began with original band members, lead guitarist Dimitri Anastasakis, and Steve Vecchiola, the bands lead singer.
Steve’s first performance took place at Roy Thompson Hall at a very early age. The roar of the applause was something Steve wanted to experience for the rest of his life. So, he decided to focus on his music endeavors along with his interest in songwriting and performance. He studied voice as well as several instruments and learned much about music and the industry from his father who was also a musician.
Today, Sifter is preparing for the release their long awaited first album. They are also performing at various venues around town and will be making several television appearances. Stay tuned! Lots in store for these very talented individuals.
